Kirkintilloch has seen many changes since the Forth & Clyde Canal was first constructed. Trail the cultural heritage of Kirkintilloch spanning many hundreds of years with this photographic exhibition at the William Patrick Library during this year’s Canal Festival Week. FREE

Join us in a gentle herb walk alongside the canal enjoy an introduction to medicinal herbs growing locally. Our evening is led by Dr Catriona Stewart BA (Hons) MSc PhD MNIMH (Member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists). Cost £4

Festival Photo Fun!
Tuesday 23rd August 7pm – 9.30pm
If you would like more experience of using your digital camera, let local photographer David Palmar help you. Bring a camera with enough memory card space and a fully charged battery, and clothing and footwear suitable for a canal walk. Meet at the Marina at 7pm for an introduction, and then walk for about an hour along the canal and back, returning to the Marina to share your photos on the big screen. Tea and coffee will be available. Children over 10 accompanied by a responsible adult are welcome. Cost £4

Come Try Canoeing
Wednesday 24th August 2pm until 6.00pm
Kirkintilloch Bridge Area
Stop press our own Kirkintilloch based Eco adventure company, Wild by nature will be running on the hour every hour some come try canoeing sessions , based from the bridge in centre of town and exploring the canal . Each sessions last 1 hour and are on a first come first served basis . Cost is £3.50 per person. This also compliments some other activities which are on throughout this week ask your canoe guide for details. Unaccompanied children must have their parents sign for them and all are welcome. Mysterious Musical Journey by Alan Reid

Experience a fabulous two hour cruise along the Forth & Clyde Canal and enjoy one man’s musical story mapping his way around Scotland’s waterways. Join local musician Alan Reid, formally of the famous ‘Battlefield Band’ on board the Voyager. A great evening of folk song and tales – not to be missed. Light refreshments available at the interval. The World of Puffers & Para Handy’
