Kirky Champions

With no physical events taking place this year, the Virtual Kirkintilloch Canal Festival will be a web-based celebration.

However, we would still encourage local shops, businesses, hostelries and organisations to get involved as much as possible, while ensuring safety at all times.

For example, if you run a pub, restaurant or takeaway, why not offer a discount for any patrons quoting ‘Kirkintilloch Canal Festival 2020’? Get in touch too so we can help spread the word.

It’s also worth looking into the new UK Government initiative – Eat Out to Help Out.

Restaurants, bars, cafes and other establishments serving food for on-premises consumption who register will offer a 50% reduction, up to a maximum of £10 per person – Monday to Wednesday, between 3 and 31 August 2020.

The scheme is open to eligible establishments across the UK. Conditions apply. Visit www.gov.uk/guidance/register-your-establishment-for-the-eat-out-to-help-out-scheme for more info.

Customers won’t need a voucher as participating establishments will just remove the discount from their bill (includes food and non-alcoholic drinks). Businesses will then be able to reclaim the discounted amount through an online service, supported by HMRC.
